Jay Townsend, a campaign spokesman for Republican Rep. Nan Hayworth (NY-19) has ignited a controversy after he said, "Let's hurl some acid" at female Democratic senators.

OH OOPS TOO LATE I CARE

Seriously, though, there is an actress/writer who I read the blog of who recently went off on feminism because she doesn't think we need it anymore, everything is equal, and the negativity feminism brings to the discussion infantilizes and hurts women. And me, see, I think politicians saying "Let's hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won't abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector" is the negative and harmful stuff.

I just can't with people who say this sort of thing doesn't matter.

Agreed completely. We don't need feminism? Did rape mysteriously disappear? Did sickening crap like "let's throw acid at women who don't behave as we tell them to" disappear? I don't think so. So, let's stop pretending that everything's sweetness and light.
