What with the link to Dragon Tales and all I read that as modeling the Pernian atmosphere at first...

"Damnit, don't use modern data as a source of atmospheric data for past climate sims. This is like Carlos' post on ecologies from the Paleozoic and using modern ecologies to do analyses on the previous ecologies."

Which in combination with Pompe's comments about Second Earths in SF give me an idea that I need to think about.

That comment came from some of the analyses that were being reviewed. The people doing them just cut and pasted the current ozone levels onto the Paleozoic atmosphere which is clearing the wrong thing to do. I mean, you have 30%+ of the atmosphere being O2 and you expect the same level of ozone?

hrmmm.

There were other samples. Its possible to do educated guesses, but damnit, don't be lazy if you're doing cutting edge science. I wasn't the one that first belittled this one, btw. I just happen to agree with it.
