Well, this should provoke some interesting reactions

MOSCOW, April 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia has determined the general conceptual basis of outer space exploration and development. Top tasks of the country are to expand its presence on low earth orbits, exploration and colonization of the Moon, start of exploration of Mars and other Solar System objects. comments about the people Wright defends in his article show nothing about contemporary Hugo voters’ willingness to honor Robert Heinlein. How do we know it shows nothing? Because Heinlein has been voted three Hugo awards in this century!

Someone was asking me if military sf writers tend to actually have served in some military--more specifically, if there was some acknowledged great hardcore military sf writer who notably didn't ever serve in such. Help? I don't think I'm widely read enough to answer this question.
