Today's epiphany

I was thinking about futures like Sheffield's "Bounded in a Nutshell", where implanted computer links kill space travel because nobody wants to live somewhere with that kind of network latency and it occurred to me that medical issues aside, until Moore's Law stops working you probably don't want an implant if external devices offer similar functionality.
