Call me a pessimist
May. 13th, 2011 03:39 amI know Doug Liman Confirmed to Direct 'All You Need is Kill' is not necessarilty bad news (although it is old news) but the fact that he directed Jumper is worrisome and
is probably an indication that this will almost certainly not end well (remember that they're talking SST the terrible movie, not SST the terrible book).
[added later: should have googled just a tad more. This is also old]
I should have looked here first but really, it is an American film so it goes without saying it will be caucasiformed (even ignoring the sort of romance between Rita and Kiriya; when was the last time an Asian male lead in a US movie got to have a non-tragic romance with a white female lead?).
Described as a Groundhog Day/Starship Troopers mash-up,

tCS: I think "All You Need is Kill" is one of the ones you've been eyeing next, which is interesting because it's based on a Japanese book, so are you going to go for Japanese lead actors?
Liman: No, it's totally American.
