Canada's interim placeholder government bungles Vimy Ridge memorial sign translations, then avoids taking personal responsibility.

That would be bad enough but the language that the volunteers managed to mangle was one of the two official languages of Canada.

Am I misremembering or was there a time when conservatives claimed to be the guardians of real competence, real standards?

What this whole affair has its roots in is contempt for certain jobs. Everyone speaks one or more languages so why on Earth would you need a professional to handle the job of translation? Amateurs are just as good and free!

A more detailed article on G 674 a.

I see that my source for G 674's mass was incorrect. Ah, well, always check three sources.

What caught my eye was this bit:

Based on a radius estimate for the star of 0.35 solar radii, the geometric transit probability is ~5.0%. Roll that twenty-sided die.

Do I detect a role player?

Say what you will about Iran's President, at least he knows the importance of keeping women in their place.

You know how I called Trudeau a conservative? Parker would be a somewhat different kind of conservative, the kind who are terrified that somewhere, someone has too much freedom.
