Boy, there's nothing quite like a modern fantasy with Twue Fated Wuv, Americans arguing over who is more Irish and the surprising revelation that while Wicca is true, Xtianity isn't. At least, I wish there weren't.

The older I get, the more I think embracing Romantic Celtism* is not taking pride in a glorious tradition** but rather a disability that should be listed in DSM-IV-TR.


* Which is to say, a view of the Celts uninhibited by any historical sources more ancient that
THE SEKRIT LORE OF THE DROODS WAY TO BIGGER BOOBS.

** Say, how about that James Watt guy? Or Adam Smith? How come the guys who got their asses kicked by the Romans (and everyone who followed) are romantic figures but the guys who laid foundations for modern civilization aren't?

A new potato

I encountered this at the Big Scary Zehrs out on Westmount. It's a smallish purple potato, kept next to the sweet potatoes in the produce section. They seemed a bit pricy but I was willing splurge on a few to try them out. When baked, they are sweet (not unlike sweet potatoes, athough the texture is different) and the texture is, hrm, stickier than a potato.

Anyone have any idea what these are called? Because I forgot to note the name.

An interesting experiment, anyway, although not one I would repeat. I didn't care for the texture, although I can see how someone might.
