Yet more fodder
Jan. 22nd, 2006 12:04 pmA rough breakdown of the age cohorts in the medium scenario from the UN report:
Presumably, the geezers will be more healthy than their analogs are now and will not retire or reliquish control of matters as early as people are forced to now. Now, an expanding economy might mean that all the kiddies under 50 might find work but if they actually want to run things, they might want to head elsewhere, assuming their elders let them.
I just want to repeat the part about the elderly being healthier in this scenario. We aren't talking a billion and a half Grandpaw Simpsons here.
We might be talking a population that looks very dimly on the kinds of social revolutions that appear to kids, the sort with lots of yelling and killing.
Age % 0-14 ~15 15-59 ~50 60+ ~40 80+ ~20 (Note that rounding means these don't add up)
