My favourite pair of socks is wearing out.

They had little high-friction nubbles on the bottom, which I've never seen in a pair of socks before.

Were they little rubber nubbles? These are usually called slipper socks, dot socks, or traction sole socks.

Oddly enough all the stores I'm finding online that have them are hospital supply and elder care. They used to be trendy for all age groups.

You can make a pair by getting some socks that don't twist around when you're wearing them, and a bottle of puffy fabric paint from a hobby store.

That's a neat idea ...

Some of the local department stores here (Edinburgh) still sell them, but they're more expensive than slippers. Weird.

I didn't realise they still sold them! I had a pair when I was about ten, but have never seen any since... must hit the high street sometime.

One of our local stores (Rhode Island) has lovely fleece ones for $3-5/pair.

Also known as gripper socks. "Slipper socks" gets too many false hits on socks with full leather/vinyl soles sewn to them.

I just saw a bunch of socks like that in Target, they were calling them slipper socks and they were with all the holiday sock items (like fuzzy bed socks and er novelty socks (red, knee-high, white fur trim with bells on)).

Using the keywords 'slipper socks' or 'non-skid socks' should find you something similar.

Clearly you don't have a two-year-old child.

I was going to say the same thing. All of my son's socks have little nubs on the feet, but he is thirteen months old and small for his age.

My sympathy.

My favorite shower curtain, a giant reproduction of the sheet music to "April Showers," disintegrated years ago. Vinyl doesn't last forever. I don't think they make this any more. I bought it in a music store around 1979.

I once turned down the opportunity to buy a shower curtain with all the verses of "Rubber Ducky, You're The One" printed on it. I've been sorry ever since.

Those people who make umbrellas ("Totes"), I think, always do some of those slipper socks. I see them in department stores on their own-brand wire stands.

A friend of mine just bought two pairs of those at Tabi, although they were kind of girly and had Christmas stuff woven into them. I also don't know how large or small your feet are.
