I liked this a lot, but - having loved her collections Cursed Bunny and Your Utopia - it wasn't quite what I expected. The language is a lot sparer, and while her short stories are often pretty bleak, they're also frequently very funny. And I think you'd need to be very familiar with Korean history to trace the parallels (if any) with the historical episode that inspired the novel.
