Timing

I swung by Old Goat Books to pick up a book I ordered, which meant I was in the right place at the right time hear the confused customer next to me ask "What's speculative fiction?" Which, after I explained what it meant, was followed by the question. "Do you know anything about Andre Norton?"

It was only with great effort that I resisted shouting "BEHOLD! I AM Marshall McLuhan" before helping.

The back page of the Guardian has a daily question, multiple choice answers. Last week, one of the questions was what pseudonym did Anne Bronte use. One of the possible answers was Andre Norton. (Actual answer is Acton Bell.)

This is one of the things that I absolutely love about being a college librarian, getting to discuss books and make recommendations to people.

I note that in Annie Hall, Professor McLuhan himself also does not loudly announce "BEHOLD! I AM Marshall McLuhan!"

Instead, being a good Canadian, he shyly lurks in the background, until Woody Allen drags him into the conversation.
