This time using a Free League Nordic Horror RPG called Vaesen. Nobody wanted to generate their own characters, so I did it for them. Rather conveniently
There is a quick random chargen system in the back of the book. As well, since the game has four characteristics and there are four players, I cheated a bit: each character has the highest in a particular attribute and they have a profession for which that attribute is an asset.
The four characters are Malt von Ek, second son of a count, avid hunter. Primary stat: Precision
Von Ek's formidable manservant Rask. Primary stat: Physique
Docent Praskoviya Brugge, academic. Primary stat: Logic
Otto Forsmark, vicar. Primary stat: Empathy
Vaesen uses dice pools: roll attribute + skill level number of d6s, each 6 rolled is a success. For m convenience, I've summed attribute + skill level in the chart above. Odds of success are as follows:
Pushing lets one try to improve one's roll... at a cost.
Resources applies to equipment, which for some reason PCs have to restock on every mission: roll your resources pool, each 6 counting as one resource point. Clearly, the aristocrat is the party money-bags.
Talents are knacks that make one better at a particular activity. Bloodhound for hunting, absolution for ministering to others, erudite for general knowledge, and tough as nails for fisticuffs.
