Old Asimov wrote sequels to young Asimov's Foundation stories.

Similarly, Old Niven co-wrote novels that retconned Young Niven short stories. Not for the better, I thought.

My reaction to Ringworld's Children was that it was decently written fanfic but that the author really should have read more Larry Niven stories. The continuity was... not good.

The author appears to have gotten ahold of "Down in Flames" and somehow thought it was supposed to be taken seriously.

(Or is it Throne I'm thinking of? In my memory Late Niven starts to run together like a cake melting in the rain.)

I can't remember the difference either, although I know I looked at the cover art for Throne and found it ludicrous.
