"Brain Wave" sounds very much like Vernor Vinge's 'zones of thought' concept from "A Fire Upon the Deep" (an excellent novel).

If I recall, it was generally held on rasfw that Fire was, among other things, a homage to Brain (and, it seems to me, a mash note to Anderson in general).

I don't see much love for Tetrasomy Two anywhere, possibly because it was Oscar Rossiter's only novel. It's sorta like Drunk Gallagher ... but not really as the condition really starts to take hold of the protagonist.
