I played both Melee and Wizard back in the day - as wargames and at the age of twelve, but I remember the illusion mechanic made Wizard quite fun. In fact, Julian Gollop borrowed it for Chaos on the ZX Spectrum and got even more out of it there.

I never played or ran TFT as a roleplaying game but I did like the SFnal sensibility of the fantasy setting. It wasn’t anything like coherent worldbuilding really, but you can see the beginnings of the GURPS sourcebook style in there
