I suppose I really should leave this comment on Horatio Hoenswaggler's Blog, but, hey, call me an anarchist.

C. S. Lewis: never heard of the Perelandra trilogy?

Asimov: yeah, it's a U. S./U. K. divide. Ask a Brit to name an SF writer, and they'll say 'Asimov' before anyone else, with the possible exception of H. G. Wells. A bog-standard bookshop will have more Asimov than, say, Clarke, Bradbury or Heinlein.

As this 'meme' list seems to be devoid of Cordwainer Smith and Eric Frank Russell, I shall not lower myself to detailed rants on every placing.

And talking of Smith - no Doc Doughnuts?

I just posted the list and marked which ones I read/recommend. But it is interesting to wonder what the British think about urban fantasy, considering they've included almost every male author of it but no female authors other than Rowling.
