Asimov: yeah, it's a U. S./U. K. divide. Ask a Brit to name an SF writer, and they'll say 'Asimov' before anyone else, with the possible exception of H. G. Wells. A bog-standard bookshop will have more Asimov than, say, Clarke, Bradbury or Heinlein.
As this 'meme' list seems to be devoid of Cordwainer Smith and Eric Frank Russell, I shall not lower myself to detailed rants on every placing.
And talking of Smith - no Doc Doughnuts?
