The Departure, by Neal Asher. I always look forward to his books and fortunately, he seems to be turning them out at a pretty good rate so I don't have to wait too long between them. Firebird by Jack McDeviott. I know that some of his work seem to attract some criticism around here, but it's real, honest to god, non-depressing SF with a mystery element to it and it's well written (In the prose aspect.) and that's too god-damned rare these days IMO. The latest Laundry novel from
Charles Stross, whenever that comes out. Finally, the latest by Karl Schroder, (I forget the title.) whenever *it* comes out.

Incidentally, I'll be getting all of these on the Kindle when they come out, and likely not getting them if they don't. I have a love of paper books yes, but I have somewhere between 1500 and 2000 of them, and so there's more than enough paper for me to love, now bring me the space saving digital files please.

I've got a slightly different take on this, because "upcoming" for me includes "in mass-market paperback" for quite a lot of books. So I'm still anticipating several books others here have already read (for example, The Wise Man's Fear). But, given that ... it's REALLY hard to choose.

Looking over my to-buy list, the ones that make me actually squee are ... hmmm, fewer than I thought ...
Duane, The Door Into Starlight
Griffin, The Neon Court
Hodgell, Honor's Paradox
Lee, Earth's Master, The Earth Is Flat
McGuire, One Salt Sea
Moran, Players: The AI War parts 2 & 3
Sagara, Cast in Ruin *
Sanderson, A Memory of Light
Stross, Rule 34, The Apocalypse Codex, Neptune's Brood
Wurts, Initiate's Trial, Destiny's Conflict, Song of the Mysteries

and the ones that don't QUITE do so include
Fallon, The Chaos Crystal
Flint & Spoor, Threshold, Portal
Lackey, Libbey, Martin, Lee, Invasion
Lee & Miller, Ghost Ship
J'r Pournelle, Outies
Rajaniemi, The Quantum Thief
Rothfuss, The Wise Man's Fear
Scalzi, Fuzzy Nation
Vinge, The Children of the Sky (downgraded ONLY because it seems to be set
entirely on that one planet rather than doing more High Space Opera out
amongst the Zones)
Williams, Deep State

* I know of this one only from this very thread, huzzah!

--Dave, but wait, there's more...
