As it turns out, Ontario has little interest in subsidizing dealing with this particular issue with people my age since either I have coping mechanisms or can't learn them. I had other stuff to spend my money on, so that went nowhere.
Then a bit of research suggested to me the suggestion was all I need, that the utility of a formal diagnosis could be negative, given that in some jurisdictions, being on the spectrum is grounds for denying various services. It's not a plus to be deemed autistic if you need an organ transplant, for example.
