I didn't grow up in New Hamburg
Nov. 22nd, 2012 12:43 amI grew up seven or eight country blocks away. Still, it was one of the communities local to us and not one about which teenaged me expected to see a news article like this:
NEW HAMBURG — Ontario Drive & Gear’s lunar ambitions continue to take flight with a robotic rover named Artemis Jr.
The New Hamburg-based company showed off the latest prototype of its robotic rover to officials from NASA at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida last week.
Now, I'm not one of those people who tosses around suggestions that someone might unconsciously be a crypto-Satanist especially when delusion and/or mental illness is a far more plausible explanation but if I was Xtian the fact that the voice in the headly election prediction was flat-out wrong would make me ponder which supernatural entity from Xtian mythology is the Prince of Lies?
As pointed out in email
Nov. 22nd, 2012 10:40 amAn interesting article, in which I learn there are still people wedded to the We'll All Be Poor Future, the Population Bomb Future (Mote in Gods Eye variation), Foreigners are a Simple, Rustic People model and the Working Class People are Farmers model.
The 'em' in the comments stands for emulated minds.

The Tomorrow series is a series of seven young adult invasion novels written by Australian writer John Marsden, detailing a high-intensity invasion and occupation of Australia by a foreign power. The novels are related from the first person perspective by Ellie Linton, a teenage girl, who is part of a small band of teenagers waging a guerrilla war on the enemy soldiers in the region around their fictional home town of Wirrawee. The name of the series is derived from the title of the first book, Tomorrow, When the War Began.
There's a movie (which is said to be on US netflix but which is not on Canadian:

Abusive relationships and possibly rabid chimps turn out to be a bad mix. I think. The sound on this was pretty bad.

A white man in Africa first makes the mistake of pissing off a god by shooting and killing its current incarnation and then bungles an attempt to rid himself of the curse by giving the impression of having himself cursed a witch doctor to death. With the obvious cures for his situation ruled out, all he can do is wait for death to come in the form of an elephant.
This is set in the 1940s and the way our cursed fellow treats his African companions is in keeping with that.
