The 2016 Hugo Finalists

Once again, I am a mere background figure, not even a red shirt. But there are some interesting works up for Hugo, as well as puppy crap destined to place below no award.

Yeah, didn't Deirde break the story? Seems like she should be getting the reward for it, though I think she was eligible last year and not this year.

I assume they're nominating Moira's essay, the writing itself, and not the news story.

Oh! Sorry. I hadn't understood what was going on.

According to Greyland, she never gave permission for Deirdre to reprint her emails and poems, which puts that piece in a different light for me. Which is not to say that Greyland's politics--and her logical distortions--aren't horrific.

It's pointed out to me below that I might have misread. I'm sorry.

Really? The first line of Moen's post says that she did. I don't know enough about the situation to have an opinion. A horrific situation either way.

Did she explicitly say she never gave permission? The essay just says, "She [Deirdre] printed my emails and poems on her blog, which promptly went to 92 countries around the world, to my utter shock," which is ambiguous as to whether she was shocked that Deirdre printed them at all, or that they got so much attention.

Oh, good point. I don't know where my head is.
