When I was not very much younger than that, I read somewhere "If rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it," and TOOK IT SERIOUSLY. (Fortunately I never had to test the theory. *shiver*) That shit was in the culture everywhere.

Heinlein's Friday had a line very much like that in the opening chapter iirc. I read that when I was in high school. I am so glad that even at the time I knew that was not right.
