I thought of the STD problem, but another issue is that there are men now that sell their sperm to sperm banks--and over a number of years and donations, they can make a lot more than $1500, so why would they choose to turn off the money flow? (So to speak.)

Well, to be pedantic, sperm banks tend to be creepily eugenicist, with certain required SAT scores and that sort of thing. The sort of people that sterilization for a quick hit of cash would appeal to are not usually going to be the sort of person who grew up with a Kaplam tutor.
