A book promotion of a sort I never foresaw

Welcome to the SOULLESS
Victorian Dress-Up Doll!

Interact with the doll to add period clothes and accessories.

And to quote Andrew Wheeler, from whose blog I stole this, "You should see the levels of underwear possible in this!"

The creator also has Regency Hero & Heroine dress-up dolls on DeviantArt, which made the rounds a while back... that's probably how she came to the promotion department's attention. I like the Victorian dress-up doll, although if this heroine is supposed to be some kind of vampire hunter, there could at least be a stake or a cross in the accessories. :D

One of the hairpins is silver, the other one wood. As I recall.

1 The underwear is particularly uninteresting, but that's OK.

2 I like that they have migrated the concept of paper dolls to the computer. I will be sending this to my nieces.

@2 - You might also want to take a look at kisekae. There's a lot of kisekae out there and a surprising amount of it is perfectly safe for small humans (but check it first anyway. You never know.)

This is a pretty good example.

I find it interesting that she changes expression when you click on her face.

I find the Regency dolls much more interesting, with the variety of facial features and skin types. With only a few minutes of fiddling, I've been able to make a perky and stylish young lady whose complexion will probably cause her great difficulties in Society. In other words, perfect for a story.

I'm kinda disappointed. With a title like that, and our recent conversations about robots....

Uh, nevermind. I just had a, um, novel idea.

Please! Something much more cerebral and probing. Involving William James, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Zombies, and Steampunk Sexbots.

If not already read and enjoyed, may I suggest "Dead Girls" by Richard Calder for a read thro'?
There's a review here: http://www.bearcave.com/bookrev/deadgirl.htm
It's followed up by "Dead Boys" and another, which I still haven't managed to get hold of, "Dead Things".

I think I have either a 2-in-1 from that series or a 3-in-1.

That sounds mildly disturbing, in a China Mieville kinda way. But I was thinking more of these zombies, rather than ordinary zombies.
