Not in a witty April 1 mood this year

I can say that for the umpty-umpth year running, I've convinced myself that the Easter holiday is the Monday after the Sunday, not the Friday before. Totally wasted a stat holiday in work-brain mode instead of holiday work-brain mode.

Since I was talking about the magazines I used to read elsewhere

I decided to see what the new guy at Analog is doing and what I found out is he only just took over and doesn't have enough of a track record to judge.

60 • Where's My Flying Car? • [The Alternate View] • essay by Jeffery
D. Kooistra

Yeah... Well, I will assume that's dross left over from the old guy and hope that one of the things the future will bring is a clearing of the deadwood from Analog's TOC.

What the heck is happening with the formating?

Everything seems to be appearing in one block of text unless I use a pre tag and put in returns and spaces by hand.

Dimension X: Almost Human (George Lefferts)

Almost Human

A sociopathic criminal hijacks a professor's robot for evil! But he doesn't foresee how badly his little plan can go awry.

This was definitely reused for X Minus One but I don't recall it ending the way this version does. Just a second...Nope, same ending. Pretty sure they reused the script but not the performance.

There was a lot more sex in this than I would have expected in a 1950s radio show. Nothing on stage but it's pretty clear what's going on between the robot's nanny and the crook.

Dimension X: The Lost Race (Murray Leinster, adapted by Ernest Kinoy)

The Lost Race

A deep space mission stumbles over the first known surviving functional relics of an extinct civilization; before this they were known only from the scorched locations where their cities once were. Despite the captain's desire to return home, the expedition is forced to explore the site, which may contain clues to why the Lost Race exterminated itself.

This reminded me of Forbidden Planet, which post-dates this play by about six years. Hmmm. Biologists should be warned the ending of this will not make you happy.

Dimension X: To The Future (Ray Bradbury, adapted by Ernest Kinoy))

To The Future

A young couple desperately tries to escape a dystopic future by fleeing into the distant past of the 1950s. The authorities pursue, determined to drag the couple back to the doomed world of 2155.

This was re-used for X Minus One.

To my cat, Groucho

I had asparagus for dinner last night. There is no need for that alarmed look you gave me.
