What the heck is happening with the formating?

Everything seems to be appearing in one block of text unless I use a pre tag and put in returns and spaces by hand.

Possible things: 1) you've got the rich text editor on and it's got a weird font setting (I never use it, can't speculate more) 2) you've selected the 'don't autoformat' option at the top which will stop linebreaks and similar working 3) the universe hates you.

2) is the most likely of the three I can think of.

Disable autoformating seems to have been clicked somehow.

Yup, that will do it. It's happened to me at least once, and the first time I was flummoxed enough to put in a support request, though I can't remember whether it was ever answered or whether I figured it out on my own.
