I think these comic book people need to do up something in which Harper is properly disposed of.

[identity profile] roseembolism.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I think it should be very evident by now that harper is a Skrull. Or it would be, if anything actually ever happened outside of the U.S. in Marvel-land.

(Heck, hardly anything happens outside of New York. It must be the center of a Hellmouth or something.)

Canada does show up in Marvel, usually in the context of inhumane and probably illegal superhuman research and development programs run by Department H or as the place American superheroes run to avoid the registration act.

[identity profile] roseembolism.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Which is really bizarre that it's CANADA of all places that does the illegal metahuman programs. I mean, i know Canada isn't perfect, but it still seems to have a better human rights record thanthe U.S..

Hey, don't diss the Skrull-Canadians! They're just one patch in the quilt that makes up Canadian society in the MU.

What I wonder is when Canada will elect its first Celestial-Canadian MP and how the heck we will seat them in Parliament.

We'll just assign them to the Senate and they can not show up.

I vaguely recall an issue where Reed Richards explains that Manhattan is, in fact, some kind of cosmic nexus point; which is why everything in the universe either happens there or is related to something that happens there.

[identity profile] roseembolism.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a bit amazed that they came up with that explanation. Mostly from the fact that they thought there needed to be an explanation. New Yorkers actually acknowledging that others might not believe that New York is the center of the universe is an odd thing. ;')

Not as bad as in the Lois and Clark TV show universe - in one episode the president was kidnapped and cloned, in another he was brainwashed into surrendering the presidency and launch codes to a time-travelling megalomaniac. Oh, and he was replaced by a libertarian version of Charlton Heston in at least one alternate world.

Mystique managed to kill a presidential candidate (her own son, to be boot). Her cohorts nearly managed to kill another presidential candidate with the help of illusion powers, foiled only by Pyro.

The Top was not a shapeshifter, but he did use illusion technology to almost kill the president-elect (he was said president-elect's VP).

Finally a good job for Leech, as a Treasury agent.

Well, there was that time Reagan turned into a snakeman and fought Captain America.

[identity profile] james-nicoll.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Say, did DC ever have someone realise that Mrs. Reagan was a Manhunter robot?

I can't diss the Nancy too much, because despite the hair and the weirdness, she evidently was one of the people responsible for the thawing of the cold war...and possibly preventing W.W.III

[identity profile] james-nicoll.livejournal.com 2009-01-10 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well, in DC continuity, at least up to the post-1990 reboots, the Nancy who did that was a robot.

Strange, I would have figured that Mephisto would have offered Obama the ability to prevent his grandmother's death in exchange for his marriage to Michelle.
