Callibration

If I lived about 20 minutes walk away and I said I would start out "after five" what time would you expect me to arrive? 5:20? Sometime between 5 and 6? No way to tell because of the lack of information?

Before six, but likely after five thirty. After Five indicates within the half hour period after five o'clock, as opposed to the period before six, which would be Before Six.

I'd probably expect between 5:30 and 6, but I'd mostly go by past history if available.

I am guessing you are the kind of person who gets distracted, so after 6.

I'd guess 5:30-ish, just from that. If someone they'd leave "after five" then I would assume that to be "soon after five" rather than "well after five"

5:20-5:30, figuring it was just after five by no more than five-ten minutes.

(Unless I knew you were particularly scattered, in which case I'd figure before I went to sleep. Maybe. :)

Sometime between 5 and 6, in the absence of disconfirming familiarity with your habits.

I'd be surprised if you showed up before 5:30 or after 6:00.

I'd figure on 5:20-5:30.

I'd assume sometime in the bottom half of the 5 o'clock hour, but wouldn't get worried until a quarter after 6. Anger would set in around quarter to 7.
The nuclear option would be enabled if you didn't show until 10.

Probably in the 5:30-6:00 range, but variables that might make it later include how often you've made that trip, and how many distractions there are along the way. Note that some distractions are more likely to lure you if you're familiar with the trip--people, of whatever species, to talk to, for example--and others less so.

I'm in the 5:30-6:00 camp; with a note that being *slightly* outside that range on either end wouldn't be at all a big deal, especially if the circumstances were either mildly exceptional. The "after x" departure schedule means to me relatively *shortly* after x, and I think the next half hour is about the range intended.

Actually, those are my *generic* answers, not specific to you, since I haven't interacted with you enough over in-person schedules to have any customizations in place.

5:20 to 5:40, for a leaving time of 5-5:20. Otherwise I think I'd expect 'I'll leave around 5:30' (for 5:20 to 5:40) or 'I'll leave just before 6' (for 5:40 to 6:00).

Probably between 5:30 and 6:00, but possibly as early as 5:20. If you didn't show up by 6:30, I'd figure either you got held up or there was an unscheduled changed of plans which prevented you from calling to let me know.

[identity profile] lederhosen.livejournal.com 2005-04-26 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Probably between 5 and 6ish, but that could vary depending on what you were coming over for and how time-dependent that was.

Between 5:30 and midnight.

20 minutes' walk for you, or for me? ;) Barring clarification, I'd assume 20 minutes for you, which would lead me to expect you between 5:30 and 6.

Between 5:30 to 6:15.

For you James...

I would expect a natural or manmade disaster to intervene leading to your arrival time being unpredictable.

For some other people I would expect them after 5:20, and get pissed off at them when they arrived at 5:15 nd got me out of the shower.

For most people I would figure somewhere between 5:25 and 6:00 and plan dinner for 7ish

Bah! I only rarely nearly get run down at Charles and Cedar or Charles and Eby!

More often it's the clock on my computer running slow....

I would say, 'All right. What time do you think you'll get here, then?'

(Which I suppose equates to 'lack of information', but my usual response to a lack of information is to acquire more.)
