One huge desert with no forests or seas? Where does the oxygen come from? From the cover picture (not always a reliable guide, to be sure), the colonists aren't restricted to space suits or even breathing masks.

Not addressed. The planet does seem to have seas in the geologically recent past.

I like the title, and I'm pleased to find out it isn't an urban fantasy with werewolves.

I've never really found that "Evil corporation controls space travel" idea (which has been around since the early pulp days: shows up several times in early Williamson)very plausible. Interstellar travel is just too strategically valuable for any government not actually in the Corporation's back pocket to allow it a monopoly (what about the Federal Union military? Do they travel from place to place in ships owned and crewed by employees of Transrift?)
