Thirteen Days of Atomigeddon 10: The War Game by Peter Watkins

While Threads is still my favourite nuclear war movie, The War Game is, I believe, of more historical significance.

What a horrifying film.
Peter Watkins is an unacknowledged genius.

Aha, I remember this being shown at the local fleapit independent cinema in March 1985. I remember the date, becausebecause when I got back to my college room my Dad had left a note to tell me my mother had died (obviously he had hoped to tell me in person).

Are you still planning to do Threads, which makes this look like a cheery walk in the park?

ObCopyeditor: "minuscule," not "miniscule"

Though that one may be a losing battle in the long run.

You may be interested in my friend Malcolm's piece on teaching The War Game (he's a nuclear history scholar): http://theatomicage.wordpress.com/2013/08/02/teaching-the-war-game/

In fact, you may want to read everything on his blog.

All he needed was a passing knowledge of Britain’s defensive position, a copy of The Effects of Nuclear Weapons, a slide rule, a map of Britain, a ruler and a length of string.

I think think that you should include a review - or at least an appreciation - of TENW in this series.
