I wonder if the author felt something in the air or if it is a case of continually predicting disaster will eventually be right given enough time. The answer has implications for the future of America since the American equivalent has been predicting civil war for about the last decade.

This explains everything to me. I kept wondering why they didn't put their efforts into removing the illegitimate government in Ukraine (itself the product of a fascist, foreign-backed coup). Now I know. They don't care about democracy in Ulraine: they're liviong the dream.
