Has anyone reading this

Seen the de Gier and Grijpstra TV show? Any good?

Oh! A new one, not the old Dutch one? Actually, I'd settle for the old Dutch one.

I am thinking of the 2004 one. Is that recent enough to be new?

Ah. I'd hoped for a newer one filmed in English. (my one niggle with the books is the way street names are helpfully translated into English, but this wouldn't be a problem with a series actually filmed in Amsterdam....

(And it'll be far better than these guys)

Well, to be fair, we didn't actually see them get to tackle a murder... they might be quite good at it...

Mhz Networks Home is now bringing over a whole whack of scandi-crime adaptations on DVD (Wallandar, Huss, Van Veeteren, amongst others). I don't see the G&G 2004ish tv series in that mix, though: I'm not sure they're available on DVD.

Grijpstra and de Gier.

(pet peeve)

The recent Dutch series suffered from the problems of any Dutch tv series: limited amount of actors, some of which do _act_.

With the recent interest in Danish drama on the BBC, people have come to the conclusion that there are only 12 actors in Danish television. The removal man father of the murder victim in The Killing turned up as the Minister of Defence in Borgen, for instance.

And, to further confuse matters, the actress who plays the TV journalist in Borgen is the spitting image of Billie Piper, so much so that when I caught a few minutes of a Dr Who re-run a few weeks ago, I was wondering what Katrine was doing in the Tardis.
