The move to desocialize the Federal NDP was quashed, I believe. On the one hand, makes them a better target for the CPC; on the other, at least unlike the Liberals they stand for something other than being not-the-CPC.
You're right about the federal Liberals not standing for anything, but the Ontario party hasn't been doing a bad job, I think. I moved back to Toronto last summer after seven years in Serbia, and the differences that those seven years (now eight) under the the McGuinty government had wrought in the city and province were palpable and really positive. (On the other hand, after Harris, I suppose there was nowhere to go but up.)
