I think the 2005 Fantastic Four movie is an even clearer example than Iron Man. Everything that happens in it is a result of their lamentably poor safety procedures. If I were Victor Von Doom I would have sued Reed Richards and co. for every last penny they had for being the cause of his permanent disabilities - it's much easier to play the long game and impoverish them first before going for the kill...

Anyway: I'm pretty sure it was Nevyn's massive fuckup that started the whole karmic ball of wax. Alas for me, the author seems to have abandoned Mastodon for Bluesky I Can't Believe It's Not Twitter, so no help there.

Can't post to Former Tor, so:

The Pliocene Exile / Galactic Milieu series is about one of its characters making his amends for killing hundreds of millions of sentients. Takes him about 5 million years to do it.

re: Carrie - King doesn't believe in foreshadowing so much as fore-thunderstorms-and-tornadoes-and-hurricanes-and-floodsing. I hate it but I keep going back for more, so I guess I don't hate it *that* much.

Oh, hey, I picked up that edition of Daggerspell at the local used book store not too long ago.
