Magic aside [1], "Cascade" looks way too much like the future I'm going to live in to make me feel better about my own life, save in the "well, at least I'm probably dead before things go fully Mad Max" sense.
[1] Four or five MAGA "global warming is a Chinese plot" Republican presidential terms plus the continued march of climate change seems quite sufficient to bring about the collapse of the US sans any alterations of the laws of physics. (As Graydon frequently reminds us, the "outdoor farming becomes problematic as a means of food production" stage of things probably isn't that far off.)

Saw a monarch butterfly today. My first one since they were put on the endangered species list. I was surprised at how moved I was.
