I mean, the first posleen book was pretty obviously nazi-coded - at least for anyone who’d read The Iron Dream.

Come to think of it, I wonder if The Iron Dream is on the KKK reading list? They don’t strike me as people who’d be good at spotting irony

I expect they discard the frame story.

It doesn't help that the framing story of Spinrad's book has the USSR taking over the world because there was no Nazi Germany to oppose it.

(really, one of the dumbest AH takes I've seen)

And then there's the fact that the Holocaust has supposed happened, but was carried out by the Soviets. (Doctor's plot nowithstanding, it seems a wee bit contrived.)

And that's before you get to the one filled with actual Nazis.

One of the comments at Goodreads:

"Also, in this book, the "liberals" of the world are too stupid to listen to medical professionals in the face of a lethal pandemic. Instead, choosing to latch onto conspiracy theories and pseudoscience.. Reading this book while watching certain conservative and right wing members of our society protest masks and social isolation in the face of COVID is very surreal."

It really is always projection ...

I was reading the reviews and associated comments... and it got sooo depressing. I should know better than to go down the rathole.

I hate to admit it, but I actually enjoyed this one. Not for its politics (which I hardly noticed) but for a pretty good and funny story.

Ah, well. I wasn't planning on reading the sequels anyway...

The enjoyment one gets from a Ringo novel (or desire to read further) is directly proportional to how forcefully inserted the Author Filibuster is.

"CW Genocide"? Country and Western? Your wife leaves you, your dog dies, 3 billion humans are vaporized?

... Edit: searching for the phrase had one hit "CW: genocide". CW here = "Content Warning"? If so, my apologies for not realizing.
