What about people who are passionate about their detachment?

[identity profile] tx-cronopio.livejournal.com 2012-01-27 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Detachment is easier. And safer.

Passion is better.

The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity.

Balancing the two is best.

Actually, detachment is not better than passion, despite my vote. Detachment with some passion is, however, far rarer than passion alone. And passion alone is rather dangerous for all around.

It depends!

This is an and, not an either.

Passion about such a question as one and one's sweetie making love, detachment about such a question as two and two's making four.

Complaint: Need ticky boxes, so I can mark both "Detachment" and "I have no particular feelings about this poll".

But I'm not really that worked up about my complaint.

They should team up and fight crime! Or possibly star in a hilarious odd-couple type sitcom.

Passion! Passion, passion, passion, passion, PASSION!

Moderation is for monks.

(Actually, I'd be tempted to add, 'Why yes, I do have to sweep up a lot of broken glass left in my wake, metaphorically speaking. Why do you ask?' except that, upon reflection, I realize with a certain amount of disappointment that I'm rather more circumspect in real life than my avowed philosophy might suggest.)

Passion for some things, detachment for others. And miniature Ruritanian flags for everybody!

Finer granularity. I suppose someone is passionate about pumpernickel bread, but I can eat it for breakfast without that.

This poll is admirably well-constructed.

Jedi vs Sith

[identity profile] nordhus.livejournal.com 2012-01-27 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
So this poll is about

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

vs.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

I am completely detached from this poll, and want to complain passionately about that.

[identity profile] dbdatvic.livejournal.com 2012-01-29 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I would like to complain about this poll. Surely the first two entries should have been "Passion!!1!" and "Detachment...", respectively?
