It's been obvious for a while if you read the books he wrote or the anthologies he edited. But it's a good way to hook those for whom SF/F is automatically "not my thing".
So Clute describes Chabon's book The Gentlemen of the Road as a "Michael Moorcock homage". I would have described it more as a Fritz Leiber homage. But YMMV. And GotR is definitely worth reading.
