I converted my finger brace from something resembling a monkey trap (where the bottom flange flares out, ensuring that my finger gets stuck in the handle of the water jug every time that I use it) to something with a nice sharp short edge on the bottom flange that can gouge a hole in my injured finger in a surprisingly short time.

A little filing and some tape appears to have fixed this oversight.
