Pacing is why I decided not to do this by series. I think keeping this as varied as possible is key.

A good point. And as I dimly recall, Norton's series didn't tend to be of the 'Better reread books 1-8 when book 9 comes out, or you'll be lost' type.

My own feeling/suspicion is that Norton's books don't deserve Reviews in the formal sense. As I recall, they're all enjoyable & worth reading, but... ummm.. not up to the Critical Review level. The phrase I'm thinking of is "comfort food".
