The Godwin was fun but... ultimately clever-sophomoric, in the way that a lot of post-Christian depictions of Heaven and Hell are.

Story of the Stone was one of two much-less-good sequels to Bridge of Birds. Of course, being much-less-good than Bridge of Birds is still a fairly high bar, and these are not bad books. In any event there will not be any more of the series, so if you like Master Li and Number Ten Ox, there it is.

Dixon's After Man was pretty good; he seemed to go steeply downhill after that.

Hellspark was a decent midlist book by an author who always seemed about to write something really good.
