Given how sneaky the horse is in AC:B and AC3 (appears out of nowhere when you call it), that's not completely outrageous. There was a Penny Arcade strip on the topic, but I don't feel like going off to find it (or for that matter giving PA any linkjuice) at the moment.
Reminds me of my theory, which I must use in a story some time, that cricket was invented by vampire hunters - is there another game where players would routinely carry half a dozen long stark stakes and a few heavy clubs (bats)?
