If we can get something with the efficiency of bismuth telluride, but without the toxicity, we can turn every IC radiator and exhaust pipe into a source of electricity. Instead of using engine power to run the alternator, cars will charge their battery from engine waste heat. Just like the bottoming cycle from a combined cycle setup, but with no moving parts.
