ISTM that the Alderson drive from the CoDominion is a lineal descendent of Asimov's "hyperatomic motor", what with the speculative fifth force and the instantaneous transitions from point A to point B. You get the same thing with the warp drive in the Arcot, Wade, and Morey stories and the later incarnations used in Star Trek.
