The computer store I've used since 2008 stopped opening for business in August and now the front door has a letter from the landlord barring all unauthorized persons from entering the premises.

A local pet supply store went bankrupt in the middle of a weekday. Creditors came in and started carrying out the animals without announcing why. Police were called, all hell broke loose, but that was apparently a good thing since the creditors were trying to take animals that had been left there for grooming. Someone on the newspaper forums claimed customers were called to come get their pets, and even some animals for sale were claimed as pets because people were afraid what the creditors would do with them.

Still, that was better than when Greystone Vet closed the day I had my first appointment with them. Sick pets were still in there, left alone and untended. I was told KSU Vet Med Center managed to rescue the animals but that the owner wasn't cooperative about it.

*shudder*

Pet stores that sell dogs and cats bother me anyway (though I love looking at kittens and puppies of course) and some that carry smaller animals can squick one out if they seem to be overcrowded or underfed... Or you just wonder who they're selling some of these delicate lizards/birds/etc.

But to try and foreclose on animals? Or lock the animals in? *shudder*
