Huh. That was an interesting letter at multiple points. Still surprising ("OMG! they count time in seconds! and the authors are Vinge! must be related!") but doesn't seem as Brain Eatery as I'd feared. And yeah, HB could certainly be dropped into the Slow Zone. Just... unexpected.
