Colorado, Indiana, Florida, Ohio, and New Hampshire are now all blue, and pay their own way in James's chart -- though the new chart has Indiana and being moderately in the red. Of course we're comparing 00 and 04, and possibly different financial sources.
On the new chart, updated for 08 election, Texas is the only payer state that's Republican. More of the payee states have turned Democratic but they're loosely concentrated at the bottom, near the financial tipping point.
