Would it be for Canada to assimilate, oh, 100,000,000 people over a few year? Saskatchewan went from 91,279 people in 1901 to 492,432 in 1911 and going from 40,000,000 to 140,000,000 is a proportionately smaller jump.

Could be tricky explaining to newcomers why there are Leafs fans.

I think the explanation there is something like "it's like Cubs fans, it runs in the family."

My explanation is that the Leafs are to hockey as the Eucharist is to Catholicism.
