Harper Bell: Strangelet

I thought I'd rolled up the most pathetic Icons character ever, until I noticed my phone was rolling 2d6-2. As it is, most of his stats are unimpressive. Powers, on the other hand....

The most brilliant student to graduate Almonte District High School (Home of the Thunderbolts!), Harper Bell was alarmed and disheartened to discover that he was just another undergrad at (Plot Device) University. Hoping to claw his way above a B-average, the undergrad stayed late to complete lab work... which put him in the right place at the right time to benefit from a strange matter-related mishap in the lab next door.

Strangelet can greatly increase his density. Since his mass remains constant, that means he shrinks as well. Well, unless it's funnier for him to be permanently stuck at the size of a BB.

For reasons too complex to explain, he can also fly. Also, it's likely the transformation had subtle effects he does not yet understand, thus the life support and immortality.

I seem to recall that in Asimov's adaptation of Fantastic Voyage, the submarine's radio-frequency communications came across to the outside world as X-rays. Low-intensity stuff, not enough to cause harm to the guy they were supposed to be curing unless they stopped moving for an extended time.

Perhaps your guy isn't permanently stuck in miniature form, but can't reliably turn off his powers. He'll get back to normal size sometime after he decides to do it, but it may be hours or days before the change starts.

I used to wonder how Ant-Man's comms could work when he was small, the antennas no longer being a quarter wavelength long. Then I realized he probably uses ant-ennas instead.
