It's weird to hear it abbreviated like that (though not as weird as hearing non-NZers talk about eating "kiwis"): it causes me to automatically further abbreviate it to "the Vogels" and get confused because here Vogels is a brand of bread whose ads, at least, want me to believe it has a cult following.

Usually we abbreviate the awards to "the SJV[ award]s".
