What is "Project: Illimitable Dominion"? I frankly was expecting a "Tears" tag on this.

Ah yes, the book which taught me when I was much younger that even novels can be shaggy dog stories.

Thanks.

Since comments seem to be turned off on that page, here's a suggestion:

Hooray, a new tag! Are there going to be more? Please tell me there are going to be more.

I've been fond of this one since forever. If my dance card wasn't full I'd re-read it, if I knew where my copy was. (Yes, eBook. I don't expect to like what eBooks would do to the typography in this title.)

I read the book after seeing the original movie and I like both. Yes, it suffers a lot from Crichton's standard plot that pinnacled in Jurassic Park, but it's still good.

Unlike the Syfy channel remake that replaced "accidental discovery" to "tinfoil hat conspiracy by the evil guvment."

I don't even know why they do those anymore: isn't it clear by now that when the government does something evil, they'll probably just boast about it on Twitter?

There are so many small-c conspiracies in and around government, it would not be ridiculous for a few of them to stay both hidden and effective. (There must be a pony in there somewhere.)

That one's been on my mind of late.

Someone's just been to the grocery store. :-)

I don't remember whether I read the book or saw the movie first, but I do remember enjoying them both, a rarity. (Though this was teenage-me in days before internet, when reading material that could absorb my attention completely was enough to forgive a lot.) I do remember one plot hole that bugged me enough at the time that I still remember it:

Ah, thank you. Timing seems a bit iffy, but realistic modeling of spread was not a strong point of the story.
